What shoe should a woman wear with a navy suit?

My ‘dress’ shoes, the Sketchers, they’re men’s shoes. I wear them with regular socks. They’re like the low-top work shoes type with the big thick heavy tread soles. I wear them with every dress-up outfit I own, which isn’t many. I wore them to my cousin’s wedding and every job interview I have ever been on. I also wear them with jeans. The idea of having specific shoes to go with specific outfits is… very strange to me.

I get all my button up shirts in the men’s department. They’re plain, and they have a lot of different colors.

Also the buttons on them are actually designed for right handed people dressing themselves, not back-assward like women’s clothes.

If someone sees my shoes and thinks they’re meant to convey some image rather than to supply my feet with a supportive and comfortable means of walking around all day, well, I think it’s sad that we put more emphasis on what shoes look like than whether or not they do damage to our feet, legs, hips and back. I only regret that I started fighting such ridiculous shoes after being forced to wear them by my mother and having permanently deformed two toes on each foot.

Geez, I guess there aren’t any rules, and it’s all personal preference. I would never wear anything but navy or black shoes with a navy suit. You can throw in color somewhere else, like with a camisole or scarf or jewelry. And really? Brown and navy? Just…no. IMHO.
