Heh. A friend’s son just quit his job at a bank (his first job after graduating college). He gave up banking to work for his dad (construction). His hated the bank job, and is making better money working fewer hours for his dad.
His mom is livid.
Construction does pay well if you’re good at whatever you’re doing. It’s not, though, for everybody. I have been building houses since 1982, and tried to encourage my son to at least learn the ropes of it. He never seemed interested. Then, of course, the housing market is pretty much dead where he lives and where I did live till a couple of years ago, and where I still do business (Carroll County, Georgia), so it’s not a good time to start in construction around here. In any event, he’s more cut out for a 9 to 5 type job, as are most people.
