What should happen to Democrat sanctuary cities?

Yeah, actually they do.

Sounds like your fantasy world doesn’t have an independent judiciary. That sounds fascinating, but it doesn’t apply to reality.

Any and all illegal aliens currently illegally residing within the borders of the USA should feel worried and threatened, as they are illegal intruders who are currently illegally residing in a country where they are not allowed to be.

This is wrong wrong wrong.

But it’s not your fault. Immigration law is pretty complicated. Which is one of the very good reasons for not having it enforced by people who aren’t specially trained to do so.

With all this talk of withholding federal funding from sanctuary cities - how much federal funding is this exactly, and what impact would its absence have?

Which state do you live in? Which city?

According to this, it is around 27 Billion.

We found nearly $27 billion ($26.74 billion to be exact) in federal funding (FY2016) for America’s 106 Sanctuary Cities

Losing such funds will obviously be a heavy burden on poorly run Democrat cities that are already struggling financially.

Donald Trump and I both come from the same city. As a matter of fact, we were both born in the same city also.

Ding ding ding! We have a winner!

As long as there is a demand for cheap (below market wages) and quiet (can’t complain of working violations due to ignorance or fear of deportation), there will be those who attempt to work there. Those companies can take those advantages and pocket the rest, increase market share, blahblahblah. It’s the free market at work!
Start with E-Verify. Fully implement it, require it, and fund it. It’s impressive how many people DON’T move somewhere if there’s no jobs. Strangely enough, a comparable fix could help the decades-long, bottomless, ineffective War on Drugs. Crazy!

Aaaaaand I just agreed with doorhinge. Am I going to go blind?

I agree with that.

Any employer hiring any illegal alien should be fined and potentially prosecuted.

The war against illegal aliens should be waged on all fronts, employing multiple tactics.

It’s challenging to find a way to not construe these comments as personal insults. I think I can do it so I will. I advise you to refrain from making me exercise this level of judgment in the future and to dial back these types of personal remarks.

What that has to do with what I posted I haven’t the foggiest notion.

Is there some reason this is so high on your list of things to be concerned about? What specifically do you fear will happen to you if these people that you don’t like are not banished from the nation?

I think I may detect a slight flaw in your reasoning: that is, one cannot know definitively whether someone is driving under the influence until they are tested for drugs or alcohol. At that point they are in custody and therefore no longer the immediate danger that you claim. So, it would appear that your position is “shoot (all erratic drivers) first, test later”.

Good luck with that.

I wasn’t just thinking about erratic drivers, but also for example a car that is pulled over by a police officer and the driver reeks of alcohol and then they attempt to drive away.

I believe that should be sufficient cause to shoot to kill. The alcohol or drug level amount could be tested later, during their autopsy, to validate the actions taken by the officer.

You must really hate the U.S. Constitution.

I think you’d end up getting a lot of people throwing/pouring alcohol over the cars of people they don’t like.

Checking that an individual person has one of those things isn’t a years long requirement. But checking that every person who pays a parking ticket, gets a dog license or sign their kids up for swimming lessons has one will take multiple person-years - which I think is what **RickJay **is talking about. Adding an extra couple of minutes to each transaction for a million transactions will increase the workload enough to require hiring extra people. Let’s say , for example, each transaction takes two extra minutes and there are 60,000 transactions per year. That’s 120,000 extra minutes. Which is 2000 hours and roughly the equivalent of an additional full-time employee. Bigger city, more transactions, more additional worker-years , although I think he underestimated - a million transactions per year taking even 1 minute extra would be 500 person-years according to my calculations.

Not to mention the costs beyond the cost of actually checking the immigration status . Like the costs of children not being educated , or people not being treated for communicable diseases, or people not reporting crimes or giving information to the police for fear that registering their children in school or going to the clinic or talking to the police will result in deportation.

Certainly not any more than many liberals and democrats who wish to deny the rights of Americans to be able to arm and defend themselves and certainly not any more than many liberals and democrats who actively support illegal immigration.

Would these people also be able to force alcohol down the throats of people that they don’t like?

When talking to a drunk, it is quite easy to detect their alcohol breath.

What do you expect to happen to the American economy when you remove 10 million people? How will the agricultural, construction, and service industries survive?
