I ordered a wok via Amazon and was unhappy with it for two reasons: 1. It was a substitute model that I could have bought for less than 3/4 the price of what I paid for the one I didn’t get, and 2. The plastic portion of the handle is a little loose because the hexagonal peg is too small for the hole it sits in. The handle itself will stay on because of the long metal bolt, but I have doubts about the long-term stability of the handle if it isn’t held in place. Too much rotation and the peg will probably wear smooth.
So I rang up the company and they agreed to a refund, and said to give it to a charity shop or something instead of sending it back. Should I hand it over as-is and let the next buyer do what they want? Wedge some silicone sheeting into the handle to pin it? Maybe season the pan a little? It’s carbon steel with a lacquer coating, and that particular coating is tough enough that wire wool is not overkill.
