What should I do with this?

Although technically this is a poll, it’s way way way too pointless to put in IMHO (I wouldn’t object to it getting promoted, though):

I bought a bag of oranges at the grocery store earlier this week. Went into the bag for one this morning, and the one I pulled out was all squishy. So I left it in the sink and grabbed another one.

Anyway, does anyone know what happens when you put an entire orange into the garbage disposal? Will there be an explosion of orange juice? Should I do it to see what happens? Or should I play it safe and just toss it in the garbage?

It’ll thump around for a bit until the impeller manages to break it down.

As long as the orange isn’t putrid, this should leave the sink smelling like oranges, which is probably better than how most sinks smell.

Unless it’s moldy, I’d slice it into chumks before disposaling it. Orange peel smells nice, and the juice is mildly acidic, so it MIGHT remove some grease on its way out.

Naw, it’s not moldy. It’s just got a circular area, about 1 1/2" in diameter, that’s discolored and squishy. Hell, the rest of the orange may even be safe, but considering it’s an 8 pound bag, I’m not hard enough up for oranges to try it.

So, unless someone can promise me spraying orange juice madness, I guess I’ll cut it up and citrus up my garbage disposal next time I hit the kitchen.
