Baby # 2, a boy, is due in February. #1, a girl, is named Abigail. We’ve narrowed down our top 3 choices:
Koltyn
Blaze
Jaydon
Ha ha ha just kidding…the real choices are:
Joshua - we agreed to name a son this, even before we were married but are kinda over it. Maybe we’ve just talked about it for too long. Zachary - I love it, but the Mister is lukewarm. He was lukewarm on Abigail before we named her that though. Also maybe a bit trendy? William - in honor of my late grandfather. A good solid name, the Mister’s favorite but I’m only lukewarm.
Thanks!
Of the three, William, head and shoulders above the others. For the very reason you said, it’s a good solid name. It also has more informal variables that he can decide on later on in life. Will, Willie, Bill, Billy…
William is a good, dignified name, but I’m with you on the “Willie” issue. I don’t like Zachary. I would personally probably go with Joshua; it doesn’t have any weird nickname possibilities that I know of, and like William it has a background.
Incidentally, Abigail is a nice name. Is she “Abbie” for short?
In all seriousness, I like Joshua and William (Zachary’s too trendy for me, but YMMV), and Will slightly beats out Josh, if only for the fact I have a friend named Will and a serious crush on Liam Neeson.
In order I like
William
Joshua
and trailing at a very distant third
Zachary.
I nearly had a fit when I saw your first three options. How could people who came up with Abilgail do such a thing?! What a relief to find you were joking. I know of two Koltyns born in the last year. So sad.
William Thomas is my father’s name, his father’s name, and his grandfather’s name. It also would have been mine if I had been a boy.
I like William and Joshua. Zachary is good, but a bit too popular right now.
I have a cousin named Zachary. His biggest gripe with the name is he was always last for everything in school. He started going by Billy (his middle name is William) when he got to high school to avoid the end of line blues. He is rarely called by his given first name anymore.
From the link - Evan’s a unisex name?! Evan Rachel Wood is the only female Evan I’ve ever heard of…and I just thought her parents were a little out there since she’s got a brother named Dana who was born after it became primarily a girl’s name.
Anyway, of the three, I like William the best. Will, Bill, Liam…it’s nice to have a lot of nickname choices. Will and Abby sound nice together, too.
