What should I teach my 8 year old grandchild to cook tomorrow?

Cooks of the world, unite!

What this world really needs is a floating cooktop – lowers to allow smaller people to cook without having to stand on a stool, raises so that someone over 5’ 6" doesn’t have to slump over and aggravate my back condition. Get busy, inventors!

No, you’re quite right. I was terribly disappointed and felt quite punished.

I get my grandson today though and he has expressed an interest in being a chef so we’ll see if he wants to do anything. He’s so picky though, I have a feeling it’ll be quite difficult.

Ignite your fire pit out back; a pack of hot dogs, a pack of buns, a small can of Bush’s Baked Beans (remove the label and open the can) to set in the fire, toast those buns, roast those wienies on sticks, spoon the beans onto the franks or eat 'em right outta the can. What kid wouldn’t like a Blazing Saddles dinner that he helped cook (Fart contest later!)?

I am not lucky enough to have a fire pit, but he settled for chocolate chip cookies and we had a great day.

His mom is going to kill me.

Any day with chocolate chip cookies is a great day. Kudos!

And knowing how to make chocolate chip cookies is an important life skill that everyone should know!

He had so much fun and we shared with a neighbor. Two life skills in one day.

I’ll second meatloaf. What kid doesn’t love mixing the squishy ground meat and breadcrumbs with their little fingers?

Also, Shake and Bake can be fun for a kid.

I came here to say this!..just tonight, I had flour tortillas, shredded cheddar cheese, and a container of Mexican layered dip from the grocery store (cheese, refried beans, salsa, and quacamole). I warmed the tortillas, put a scoop of cheese and the layered dip on half, folded over, sauteed on each side in a little butter. So quick, and so easy, delicious! Dinner was served within 5 minutes!

I’ll always remember the time my 6yo cooked eggs and toast by herself one weekend morning. I awoke to a delicious smell of toasting bread and buttery fried eggs.

Little she devil had grape jelly out too. Gap toothed with a lisp be still my
