I did a search on some subject or other and found a thread from two years ago on this subject, so I figured it was time for a revival. So, who are your teams?
mine:
NFL: Detroit Lions. Am I a masochist you say? probably, I know I like whips and handcuffs as much as the next guy. Anyway, I’m from Detroit, I can’t give up on them now, as soon as I do, they’ll get good.
NBA: Detroit Pistons. Ben Wallace is the man.
NHL: Detroit Red Wings. The one redeeming factor about supporting detroit teams(well, until the pistons got good again).
MLB: Don’t care. I used to kinda like the Seattle Mariners.
MLS: Chicago Fire. Closest city not in Ohio that has a team.
Premiership: Leeds United. They’re a bunch of thugs, I like that.
Scottish Premier League: Celtic. No other team is acceptable in my family.
NCAA Football: University of Michigan. I went there, and besides, they’re obviously the best.
NASCAR: I don’t really like NASCAR, but I do like Jeff Gordon. Mostly because the redneck fans don’t like him.
NASCAR and auto racing in general is the only sport I follow closely. And I follow the Mariners a bit, they are having another kick ass season. I don’t follow the other pro teams in my area, I have lost interest in pro football and I have never followed basketball. Other than the Super Bowl, I haven’t watched pro football in years. I like to watch college football, especially well played games. The Rick Neuheisel thing is getting front page headlines in Seattle. And if I’m bored, I will watch golf.
I do not and will not watch hockey, tennis, or figure skating.
I only watch one sport and that is American Football (I clarify because I work with a bunch of Brits and they keep telling me that Yanks don’t know what football really is…)
I am mostly a Seattle homer these days, so Mariners big time, Sonics, Seahawks. Exceptions are that I prefer Washington State over the Huskies for some unknown reason, and in college basketball I root for Gonzaga because they are outstanding and I have several friends in Spokane.
Also with the NFL, every year I choose an underdog team, and with the league so balanced these days, the chances of that team doing good is pretty decent. This year I aiming for Buffalo and maybe Cleveland.
Baseball: Braves, Orioles (though this one’s been waning for a number of years, thanks to Peter Angelos) and anyone who beats the Yankees or any other NL East team.
Football: Washington, Colts and 9ers; anyone playing any of their rivals.
Basketball: 6ers, Knicks; anyone playing one of their rivals.
Hockey:Flyers, Caps, anyone playing their rivals.
I don’t really care enough about any other sports other than World’s Strongest Man, where I root for Magnus Sammuelson and any North Americans.
