What the FUCK does Jesse Jackson have to do with T.O.'s Suspension?

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/football/nfl/11/13/owens.jackson.ap/index.html?cnn=yes

Is it a slow year end for this guy? I was reading the article waiting for him to say it’s in some way tied to TO’s blackness but suprisingly he didn’t.

Seriously, will this fuckin guy weigh in on everything? Christ.

From Jackson’s statement"

“Terrell Owens did an interview last week and engaged in some unsportsmanlike speech, deemed detrimental to the team, but nonetheless free speech.”

For the love of crap, no one is saying that TO didn’t have the right to free speech. The governement is not arresting him for his comments. But he does not have the right to consequence free speech.

Ralph Nader is in on it, too. Poor, T.O.-- he’s just a victim of the system!

Free speech means you won’t get thrown in jail for speaking out against government, not that you won’t get fired for insulting your boss.

Terrel Owens is african american, which apparently means that Jesse Jackson is de facto invited to hem and haw about how he’s been done wrong.

Actually, it works for any situation.

______ is/are african american, which apparently means that Jesse Jackson is de facto invited to hem and haw about how he’s/they’ve been done wrong.

I am wildly entertained. Ralph Nader is clearly firmly into his dotage. Why on earth he thinks his opinion matters in this is a mystery that can only be explained by dotage.

JJ is not a mystery. He always invites himself into any situation that will give him more publicity. I haven’t figured out why, but he does love the attention.

Where was J.J. when John Rocker needed him?

Marc

TO is the stud WR on Jackson’s fantasy football team. Nader has him in another league, but Al Sharpton is beating them in both. It behooves Jackson and Nader to get TO in a uniform ASAP so that neither miss their respective playoffs.

T.O. is black, and since Jackson has been democratically elected President of Black America, he is automatically an expert on anything that involves a black person.

Best. Answer. Ever.

Stinkpalm, what the fuck is your problem?

I personally think T.O.'s an ass and deserves everything he’s getting. But there are at least two sides to every story. Nader and Jackson are arguing that the other side needs to be considered. From your link, all Jackson says is that he thinks the Eagles are unfair and should release him if they intend to end their relationship with T.O. No demands, no threats, no accusations.

Where’s your pit thread for Ralph Nader and the NFLPA?

Incidentally, Jackson’s been known to involve himself in issues that have nothing to do with “blackness.”

The NFLPA has already filed a grievance against the Eagles that says the same thing. Why do Nader and Jackson feel Owens needs more advocacy than he already has?

Marley23, after the post I realized that yes, of course, the NFLPA does indeed have a role in this situation…

I just find it interesting that Stinkpalm uses this as a chance to slam Jackson, express shock that there isn’t a stated racial motivation, and ignores the fact that Ralph Nader has been equally vocal about this situation. At least Jackson spoke to T.O., unlike Nader.

The “Jesse Jackson is a rabble rouser womanizer raciallly divisive jerk” meme is so old, dull, and stupid. I have plenty of issues with some of his ideas and things he’s said, as I do with virtually any public figure with a history of taking stands on difficult issues. But as folks pit him, I’m just wondering who among us can boast a record of taking many unpopular stands on issues that we believe in, or have sprung loose a hostage or two?

Yes, but the “Jesse Jackson is an attention whore” meme seems to be working just fine.

I haven’t really heard much out of Ralph lately and I don’t consisder him an AW. I wouldn’t have been surprised to see Madonna, Britney or Tom Cruise mentioned in the article but Ralph just seems out of place.

You don’t have to be black to get Jackson’s attention. Persistently-vegetative will do it too. Just as long as the cameras are rolling, ya know?

I’m guessing he had some long-winded speech about how Owens was the victim of racism and how the white owners were pressuring the white coach to take the white quarterback’s side against the black man, but then McNabb showed up at the pep rally, and Jackson was like, “Oh, shit, McNabb is black too!”

Glad someone posted a pit thread on this, because I almost beat my head against the wall after reading Jackson’s comments.
