Every now and then we will hear politicians and other people saying that today’s youth are tomorrow’s leaders. Does this scare you as much as it does me?
No. What scares me is that today’s leaders are today’s leaders. With George W Bush around, who has time to worry about the future?
(What, did you expect me to say, “Yes, you’re right! My generation are a bunch of fucked up idiots who will destroy the world as soon as the baby boomers turn their backs”?)
I have confidence in the leadership capacity of today’s youth. I think many of them are focused on the fun to be had today but with maturity, I believe they will successfully meet the challenges of the future.
I think this is a great time to be young.
It doesn’t scare me that much, knowing what I do about my friends and most of my cousins and such from the same generation I’m quite happy with how the future might look.
But with George Dubya Bush in office I’m afraid… very afraid… (I am Canadian but looking at this whole thing happening in the world and seeing where it’s heading… I’m scared.)
