Thats what we had in my house; small entertainment stand on the floor with hdmi running up in the wall to the TV. Recently Ms Fluffy got a new AppleTV box to replace the old DVR and other clutter, and designated the floor below the TV for cat beds only. Now its just ethernet running from the outlet lower down up through the wall to the apple box tucked behind the TV.
If the wall cavity is empty you don’t need conduit. If there is insulation or other obstruction then the conduit will make it easier to fish whatever cable is desired.
Got a friend that has a heater in her garage. It’s part of the structure. The people she bought it from wanted it. Well, It’s mounted in the house and is a feature of the house.
