My MIL to be has a brand spanking new HP 8450 Photo printer, that has a nice SD/CF card reader in order to print directly from the card.
However, after we format cards using any number of methods (Win XP, Kodak Digital Camera) it decides that it can no longer read the card. The card did initially work in the printer Everything else I’ve tried to use the card with has no problem reading it. The HP printer evidently cannot format cards on its own.
I’ve not worked with SD cards much, just CF cards. So, I’m wondering, is there proprietary formats for SD cards, or does HP expect that there is some special format to use? 
Using a USB card reader, I’ve found that all the card are FAT formats.
Done lots of googleing, and searching HP’s website, and getting no help. Anyone know if there is any firmware updates for this printer or other sage knowledge of working with SD cards???
