What The Hell is Chuck Woollery Babbling About?

What is this “See you in 2 and 2” stuff he always does at program breaks? At 2 PM & 2 AM? In 4 minutes? Two minutes, two commercials?

It’s really bugging me that I can’t figure this out.

If memory serves, it means two minutes and two seconds, the average length of a commercial break back when the Love Connection was on the air.

The two seconds allowed for “pad time” between when the segment ended, the first commercial aired, then between the first and second commercial, etc, then between the final commercial and the beginning of the next segment.

That was when master control in broadcast facilities were more manual. With technology, servers, and the like, I don’t think pad time is needed anymore. We don’t use it where I work. A two minute break is two minutes, not two minutes and two seconds.
