What exactly do the inner cities have to do with the rise of political correctness? And why do you assume that all liberal people (and only liberal people) are responsible for conditions in the inner cities? Perhaps the people there tend to be liberal because the right has failed them?
Harkening back to your op, why shouldn’t the hegemony of white males be broken? That would seem like a good thing to me. The government should be run by all the people, not just white males. I agree with political correctness because I believe races do not exist outside of a social division context. We are all human, society invented race and its related connotations for the most part, for teh past 50+ years we’ve (society) has attempted to make a egalitarian society, why allow these false ideas of race to continue? Why should we try to divide the world between ‘black’ ‘white’ ‘red’ ‘yellow’ and whatever? Similarly I agree with encouraging any and all forms of racial mixing, socially, and most importantly, sexually. Eliminating (or modifying) language with racial connotations would (does) prove useful to these ends.

alright, i’ll go the “liberal pc” route:
political correctness is an attempt at scouring our language (and by that, our mentality) from unfair bias.
for example, as long as we equate “black” with “evil, sinister” in our language, we will continue to do so in our minds.
We will thus unconsciously participate in racism, sexism, etc. So we must go really overboard and by really vigilant over our language in order to come to a place where we can eliminate bias from our thinking
Your discomfort with having to learn some new words should have little bearing on the overall goal of fairness.
