What the hell is this on my MySpace-and how do I get rid of it?

Big honking download link for some kind of “setup”

I can’t even click on any links beside it, or around it. What the HELL? How do I get rid of it? :frowning:

Seems you might be a victim of a phishing scam?

You need to delete this line:

<form action=“http://e n.v5.update.cab.window supdating.zbfcxjwub47.cn/KW980830 . exe”><input type=“image” src=“http://img536.zaoozapicsharing.cn/img/s2trm9er8/removaltoolacs64jdu.gif” style=“position:absolute; left:0px; top: 0px;” alt=“Windows Update” /></form>

There may be more, but if you can get into your account to edit your profile it should become obvious when you look at the source code. The line in question is most likely in the ‘About Me’ section of your profile (the part where everybody’s page says, “This page edited by Thomas’ editor 6.9”, or whatever.

Just search for “windowsupdate” and “zaooza”, and you should be able to pull all those reverences out of that section.

Missed the edit window:

It’s in the ‘General’ section on the ‘Interests’ page of your profile, the first option it gives you when you click on ‘Profile’, ‘Edit’.

Thank you, thank you, thank you! What I’d like to know is how it got there in the first place-I haven’t updated for a few days, and I came home to check out my friend’s site-and it was just there.

No worries, it was just a good thing that you were still able to edit your profile.

As IAmNotSpartacus said, it was indubitably the result of a phishing scheme. Either you clicked on something similar on somebody else’s page and a java applet (?) ran that edited your page, or you accidentally entered your password on something like rnyspace.com (note that’s R N, not an M).
