What The Hell Is Your Problem??

All the joint msieries are reminding me of my medial epicondylitis, aka golfers’ elbow. And I don’t even play golf. I have it because my thumb bones go congenitally out of joint, which sends tingling shooting twangs up my arms, which occasionally bounce back down to numb out the last 2 fingers on both hands. OT helped. Oughta go back and do a little one of these days.

Bit of acid reflux and low-grade sleep apnea. You guys make me feel like Mr. Healthy.

Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis

That’s a particularly nasty form of kidney disease (Alonzo Mourning of the NBA has it) that has wrecked havoc with my blood pressure and other symptoms - causing both directly and indirectly two strokes and six days on a respirator. Screw it, I am wayyy too ornery to die - besides, the doctors are having way too much fun experimenting with me… it ain’t keeping me off the Road King!

Hypothyroid (too bad you and I can’t swap disorders for a few weeks, Hal :))
Asthma (since infancy)
Hypertension
Plantar fasciitis
Patello-femoral syndrome which means I can’t bike (a year of physical therapy to try to get me bike-able caused near-constant pain and I ultimately decided biking wasn’t so great after all)
Extreme clumsiness which will probably kill me someday
Wrist/elbow problems (bilateral) as a result of above
Restless Legs Syndrome which probably sucks the worst of them all
Bad hair

All in all, the old saying of “if you all lay your troubles down on the table, you’ll wind up picking your own up” fits my situation.

Boy we’re a bashed up bunch, aren’t we!

I’m pretty severly hearing-impaired, and have been since I was about 6 years old.

I’m color blind.

I know, it’s not the heaviest cross to bear, but wat are ya gonna do?

I only pay a small portion - my company provides marvelous benefits.

The Reynaud’s I must have had my whole life, without knowing what it was (until '96) because I was never able to find gloves or boots to keep my hands/feet warm enough - my fingers and toes were always cold - at work, on breaks, I would run warm water over my hands for the entire 10 minutes. >tschk< and everyone thought I was just being a baby

Chronic patellar tendonitis, both knees (meaning: the tendon that holds my kneecap in place hurts whenever I, you know, use my knees).
Patelofemoral syndrome, both knees (meaning: your knees are screwed up, don’t do anything that hurts them, and you’re out a twenty-dollar copay in exchange for an idiotic diagnosis).

Really bad vision, bad night vision, and some weird thing where my brain doesn’t put together the images from both eyes, so I have really bad depth perception.

Something weird with both my right wrist and right ankle (stiffness and pain) left over from having sprained them and never listening to the doctors’ advice.

Inability to keep my thumbs properly in their socket when putting stress on them (eg, opening jars).

Migraines, plus constant (daily) non-migraine headaches.

Amongst other psychological issues: social anxiety disorder, depression, ADD, and something called “adjustment disorder” (which my therapist never actually mentioned to me, but she wrote the DSM code on an insurance reciept and I looked it up.)

Funny how reading others’ problems reminds you of some of your own that you’d basically put out of your mind…

Yeah, I’m slightly myopic & astigmatic as well. And I have tinnitus - I usually mask it by keeping a radio on when I’m at work or at home, so I often forget I have it. But when I’m ill, it becomes so bothersome it keeps me from sleeping. Also, it seems to interfere with my ability to understand people talking on the telephone.

Boy, what a bunch of sick bastards we are!
I’ve got:
Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis (Hypothyroidism)
Alopecia Areata

oh, if this counts–my husband had Osgood-Schlotter’s too.

Hypertension
Osteoarthritis
Severe myopia and astigmatism
Type 2 diabetes
(formerly) morbid obesity
hyperlipidemia
a metric buttload of loose skin (pun intended)

Non-Classical Congenital Adrenal Hyperplasia Nothing like a weird genetic adrenal disorder to pick up your day. Fortunately, my symptoms are fairly mild. But I really hate telling doctors I have it; some don’t know what it is and then I have to explain it. Heck, just spelling it is difficult.
Hashimoto’s Thyroiditis (seem to be in good company here)
TMJ
Sesamoiditis, which gives me a great excuse not to wear high heels.

Tendonitis in my mouse hand. hey, who doesn’t?
Tinnitus in my right ear WHAT?
55% hearing loss in my right ear. Cheeses of Nazareth…? Huh?
Over all, I am very healthy.

A good friend of ours had Text Book Psoriasis. As in he had pictures taken of his stuff for medical books he was so messed up. Well, he started taking some artritis medication in the last year, and the good side effect is his psoriasis is gone.

I can’t tell you what kind, but it might be worth looking into.

I currently suffer from a combo of Tennis Elbow AND Golfers Elbow.

I do not play golf or tennis and my screen name is Elbows.

Oh, the irony!

(Five years + of caregiving for large individual is telling on my spindly arms!)

This is a temporary situation that I can exercize my way out of, according to my physiotherapist, yeah!

I used to suffer from endomitriosis, but that thankfully has come to an end.

I also have wicked TMJ and terrible sinuses, have suffered horrible headaches for most of my adult life. A new dentist spotted the TMJ evidence on my teeth and made the diagnosis. That led to the seperation of TMJ symptoms from sinus symptoms, which led to a ENT and surgery. And it looks like a second surgery is in my near future, it wasn’t any fun, but only day surgery and after all these years, a cure for my headaches seems within my reach for the first time.

And, just so I get to throw around some big words, the Dr that did the sinus surgery is a Otolryngologist, no, actually, a pediatric Otolarygologist.

I spend most of the time in his waiting room, avoiding snot congested children and wondering how anybody pronounces such a word!

Reading this makes me feel blessed that I have only a mild case. I feel for you.

I’m bipolar - I get the lovely mixed kind, but I don’t get full manias, thank the lord.

I have Hidradenitis Suppurativa - only one surgery that I needed general anethesia for so far.

I have a hypermobility syndrome, probably a mild version of Ehlers-DanlosEhlers Danlos Classical or Hypermobility Types.

I’m hypothyroid, probably Hashimotos, but from so long ago it’s hard to tell why exactly.

I have Reactive Airways Disease. It’s asthma, with two differences: 1.) I don’t usually have to take matinence meds and 2.) I have a negative response to methacholine challenges - which makes is statistically impossible for me to have asthma.

Well, those are just the more interesting ones.

It does seem like a lot of use have won the genetic lottery.

Bad knee that I have yet to seek medical attention for but it’s getting to the point that I can’t ignore it anymore.

Depression. Taking meds and doing well.

Carpal tunnel but it’s not too bad.

Plantar fascitis but it hasn’t flared up in over a year.

Gastric reflux disease that I take Prevacid for. Looking into yet dreading an outpatient surgery for it.

Hypoglycemia. Whooo boy. This one sucks the worst. I keep it under wraps pretty well by obsessively watching my sugar intake after years of trial and error.

But hey, I consider myself pretty healthy and am grateful for it.

Well, I need to lose weight. And I’m a really big klutz–though I guess that isn’t really a disease. My gyno suggested that I might have PCOS because I gained weight; that’s sweet of her, but I think it’s less of a medical thing, and more of a not having willpower thing. Other than that, though, everything’s great; blood pressure’s low, no permanent injuries, and I don’t even get many zits. So I’m good.

I’ve been pretty lucky–my only things are nearsightedness and an overbite. But I’m also a bit of a hypochondriac, so I’ll be suffering from all the disorders described in this thread for the next 24 to 48 hours.
