What the world really needs now is "fire & fury"

I very clearly said that you wouldn’t criticize Trump if he started throwing nukes around at random.

I never expressed it as a belief that he would.

You sound as frightened as some of the others in here.

Huh.

Earlier in your post you talk about norms in diplomacy and standard agreed upon dialogue. What norms and standard diplomatic dialogue is North Korea taking right now?

You could answer it’s nothing they haven’t done and said before. Only now they seek and have a means to deliver on their fiery rhetoric. Trump responded in kind. Exactly like he said, ‘Terms Un can understand’.

I don’t have a problem with that, and in some ways think it’s about time.

:golf clap:

And that’s based on… what. Mindreading? How you think others think?

Get a clue.

If you had a mind to read, I would. As it is, I read your posts.

Then kindly point out where I said I wouldn’t condemn or panic if Trump started tossing nukes around.

For fucks sake.

So, you’re going with the “He (Kim Jong) started it” defense?

Nice, but I prefer our President rise above such puerile practices.

Don’t recall intimating that. Just that after all this time and the threat as it is now, a dose of the same talk back to UN was justified.

“Sound dialogue is not possible with such a guy bereft of reason and only absolute force can work on him.” - Gen. Kim Rak Gyom, head of North Korea’s Strategic Rocket Forces

I believe that was actually Rex Tillerson’s undeservedly charitable characterization of Trump’s remarks, he being one of many underlings burdened with the responsibility of framing his boss’s brainless comments and tweets in the least idiotic way possible.

And what are the benefits of engaging in this “justifiable” action?

I can think of none that are good and plenty that are bad.

Two click rule.

That bit about the best way to respond to bullies is to respond in kind because bullies are just cowards at heart?
It’s bullshit.

Prediction: Kim will turn out to be (or appear to be) the grown-up in the room and unceremoniously drop this blustering, either on his own or because his handlers have locked him in the Executive Bathroom.

But will Trump take the opportunity to quietly back off and let the issue deflate on its own? No, he will double-down and call Kim a pussy, a titty-baby, and a coward, while beating his chest and declaring himself the bestest and winningest President the USA has ever had.

WHERE THE HELL IS KELLY IN ALL OF THIS??

Especially if the bully has a few screws loose.

Kim isn’t going to stop his blustering. Blustering is all he knows.

But… if he did, then Trump would like the grown-up because he got the kid to STFU. Something no one else has been able to do. Oh, and you think Kim has handlers? I don’t think so, but woe be it unto any that are. They wouldn’t last a week. At least Trump just fires his underlings, not put them in front of a firing squad.

This idea that somehow Trump is worse than Kim is just silly. Are the Hitler comparisons suddenly out of vogue?

Being better than Kim as an admirable goal is even sillier.

That quote broke my irony meter.

Just jumping in to point out that NK has only been threatening Guam with what appears to be conventional arms. Not nukes.

The H.Y. was right to say not to let your enemies know your plans.

Now Kim has given the Howling Yam time to launch a truly devastating salvo of Tweets.
