What to do in Cancun - need answer fast

I was thinking I needed a holiday last week and on Friday I found a really cheap deal to go to an all inclusive deal in Cancun. It’s now Sunday and I’m here.

What should I do? I’m by myself, and about the only thing I’m not into is bar hopping. Plan my life Dopers!

An visit to Chichen Itza? If you are not keen to go alone, perhaps your hotel can arrange for an excursion?

Go snorkeling. You don’t even have to be able to swim, they give you a life jacket (well, they should). We were passing through Cancun (for our flight) last summer and went to Isla Mujeres because it is close by, but if you have the time then I’m told you want to go to Cozumel. And you could do scuba lessons if you have the money and interest. And you may have figured all this all out already but I just wanted to confirm that it is a ton of fun even if you’ve never really been into fish.

I hear there’s some kind of donkey show that may be interesting.

Seconded. A long bus ride but well worth it.

Chitchen Itza is is. Probably some snorkelling. None of tourist brochures mention donkeys, so they might have to wait.

Don’t hop bar to bar. Settle in at the pool bar, get to know the bartenders and meet the other tourists…there are bound to be other singles down there on vacation.

I went once about 12 years ago and there were two sites we went too. Chichen Itza was one, but there was another one whose name escapes me that was also pretty cool. The highlight of that one was that we snorkled through these ritual cleansing caves, it was surreal. It must be close to Chichen Itza because we did both on the same day.

The couple of hours we spent snorkling was definitely the best part of the trip- it was amazing- everywhere you looked you saw something colorful and unique. It wasn’t a matter of swimming until you found something, it was just an incredible seascape. The jet skiing through the mangroves was fun too.

I have been there a few times. depending on how long you have there are tons of things to do. Chichen Itza is a must as well as
Xcaret
and
Tulum
you can day trip over to
Isla Mujeres
