I’ll be in Denver for several days in July. What are some interesting things to see and do there (I won’t have a car)? Other than sports-related activities, I’m open to all suggestions.
Depends… Will you be alive or dead?
The zoo is very good, and the new Asian Tropics exhibit should be open by then. The Museum of Nature and Science is worth a vist.
Lots of nightlife and restaurants. Downtown and Larimer Street have a bunch, but there’s pockets scattered all through the city.
Mass transit has reasonably good coverage of the city, but depending on where you’re staying, transfers could eat up a lot of travel time.
In the morning you could hit the Denver Botanic Gardens (they have outdoor evening concerts in the summer, as well, but tickets are difficult for out-of-towners.)
In the heat of the day you could lunch in Cherry Creek North and waste some time at the Wizard’s Chest.
Head Downtown or to LoDo as the day progresses, the Art Museum is pretty cool.
You can get to all of these places pretty easily by simply going south on the University Blvd bus, and/or north on Josephine. Bus System I think it’s route 24, but it’s been awhile since I used it.
Drat! Too late again.
If you like books: The Tattered Cover. Really, it is a don’t miss.
If you are downtown, try to stay on or near the 16th street mall. Unless it has changed much in the last few years, it is a great place to wander up and down. Free transit, and the Tattered Cover is more or less at one end. http://www.denver.org/what-to-do/shopping/detail?memid=2435
