And since no one else answered your other question. Chicago is an easy day trip. From Brown Deer it’s probably a little over 90 minutes each way.
I don’t know about seven smells, but we got “seven bridges”.
Since I don’t want to resurrect the other thread, I’ll tell August West here…
August…I like beer now!
…Well, I like it a whole hell of lot more then I did a few weeks ago.
See post #3, above.
Well. in that case, change “Since no one answered your question” to “I agree with hekk”
Where are you going to be? I can swing by and drop off some Kringle (breakfast treat) and/or some other local food goodies. I drive through BD twice a day to and from work. How bout a bottle of homemade wine?, I think I’ve got three or four left here (more like three or four dozen!).
Consider it a Milwaukee Doper care package…
You could catch a baseball game at Miller Park. IMHO its worth going just to see the stadium, Its also a great place to go if you enjoy watching home teams consistently blow a 5+ lead in the 9th inning.
Well let’s see I’m at the jobsite right now, right down the street from Milwaukee Public Museum. I’ll check in later with how the day starts to unfold.
If you’re in Brown Deer, you can see my in-laws’ house. My wife grew up there! OK, so that’s not interesting to anyone but me and the missus. But, if you want to go to a fun bar in downtown Milwaukee, there’s the Safe House (link). It’s a spy-themed place that you get to by an unmarked door in an alley. It’s a cool place, with lots of fun stuff like a secret exit that you get to through the phone booth.
Have fun!
Safe House - uhg. It is a bar to go to on your 21st birthday and never again. Save your money and go to a McDonald’s Playland instead.
Your words wound me. I was there maybe 5-6 years ago (I was over 21), and thought it was good, geeky fun.
It is.
I think Larry is upset because he didn’t know the password and had to jump through hoops to get in the place. Then he found out that everyone in the bar could see the silliness on the closed circuit TV’s. Right?
I enjoyed eating at Three Brothers Restaurant when I was in Milwaukee. I toddled over to the OnMilwaukee web site to check the name, and lo and behold I see a review!
The restaurant features authentic Serbian food, and it’s located in “an historic triangular Schlitz tavern.” These taverns, we were told, were built by the brewery back in the day to sell their wares.

Ah… thanks for backing me up. Thankfully, one of my friends told me the password, so I didn’t have to embarass myself to get in.
Yeah, and I quoted the wrong member, I should have said, “Lamar…”, not Larry. Don’t know where that came from. :smack:
Hello!
Is it time for another Doper tour of the brewery? I am willing to host a tour.
For those that don’t know I work at a satellite brewery of the Leinenkugel’s company here in Milwaukee
Late afternoon/early evening works best for me, but I can be flexible.
What dates/times work for everyone, and should I start another thread for it?
Well I am still neck deep in meetings but will post back tonight. I’m in town until Thursday - I may miss a doper get-together. I also don’t drink, but that has never stopped me from going out with friends to a local pub…I’ll just order something else. I like your town so far, I’m up in Brown Deer and am going to a friends for dinner tonight. If I can sneek out tomorrow I’d like to go to Marquette to see the Tolkien manuscript.
How late is late afternoon/early evening? As a new beer drinker, I’d be interested. Looks like I’m about an 45 minuets to an hour from Farmington. Is that where the brewery is?
Uh, no. It’s right smack dab in the middle of Milwaukee. Right off the freeway (I-43) and just north of the Marquette interchange. You’ve seen it a million times. There’s a big Leinie logo on the side of the building facing the freeway, that’s it.
Uncommon nailed it, it’s the big place with the big mural. The “old Val Blatz brewery” is how some people remember it.
I know, everyone says “That’s a BREWERY?!” Indeed it is.
I would consider late afternoon/ early evening to be between 4:30pm-6:30pm. But like I said, I’m flexible.
