What to do in Utah, Salt Lake area, with kids

Hi Genie!

Local Utahn here. You don’t tell me how old your kids are or their ages. So I hope this works for you.

Up here in Ogden, about a 35 mile drive north, is the Eccles Dinosaur Park. The park is open all year around and has both outdoor and indoor attractions. There are even LIVE dinos there… at least my son insists they are live and he should know!

Twenty miles south of SLC isThanksgiving Point. There is a dinosaur museum there, a farm and quite a few other attractions.
There is the
Clark Planetarium in SLC. It has shows and an Imax theatre.

I haven’t been here but its been recommended to me. The Utah Fundome

How long are you going to be here? And feel free to email me if you have any questions or need directions north!
Have fun!

Thumps head on the wall! How could I forget The Children’s Museum!!! :smack:

Also if you come up to Ogden there is the Union Station Train Museum I used to work there in the 80s. Its a real good museum. Has a train, gun and classic car museum and a rock and mineral museum.

The Treehouse Museum is a smaller version of the Children’s Museum up here in Ogden. My son thinks its the tops. He is 7 if thats any help.

It’s been years since I lived there, but I’m sure the Hogle Zoo in SLC is still open. There’s also the Tracy Aviary in Liberty Park. There’s also the Utah Museum of Natural History on the campus of the University of Utah.

You can drive to Timpanogos Cave, or go up to Park City and walk the street. Try the Jail.

And, heck, there’s always Temple Square and Gilgal.
Is the 49th Street Galleria still there?

Hm. My OP seems to have been eaten.

OK. So I’m going to Utah to visit for 6 days, and will be staying with my friend who lives in West Jordan. We have two kids each, and the oldest two are 3. Mr. genie will be around for part of the time.

On my list are Temple Square (OK, we’re Mormon, we’re not going to miss that), a big quilting store in Sandy, and a couple of college friends in Provo. And the zoo (what zoo I don’t know) is having a trick-or-treat event, so we’re going to that. Otherwise, I’m clueless.

Thanks for the suggestions-- I’ll look at those. What’s a Gilgal?

Yep Cal the **Galleria ** is till there. Although if the kids are under 3 I would give it a miss. Crowds and older kids, you know.
Genie Here’s the webpage for the Hogle Zoo. I need another :smack: for forgetting it! Hogle Zoo

If you can do it you REALLY ought to try to make it to Dinosaur Park. They open it up at night and string lights all over and make it Haunted Dinosaur Park on week nights after the 17th. My son has looked forward to this every year since he was about 3. If you want a guide just holler… he will willingly sacrifice his time for** Dinosaur Park!**
