I agree with this, well, except that I apply it to cats.

We waited so long to name a cat once (just couldn’t find the right one) that she started answering to “New Cat.” Her official name is Lilly (actually, Lillian Gish), but DH still calls her Nougat.

We have a dog named George. I also have a boss named George. The dog was most definitely ***not ***named after the boss, but it still rankles him just a bit any time I tell a story about the dog.

A cousin had a cat name TC (the cat).

Had a roommate with a dog named Dave. Yes, it was odd calling out for him when he got lost. Met three new ‘Daves’ though.

Have a dog named Rozee. A visiting friend named Rosie was a bit taken back when we told her to go lie down.
