God, I forgot all about Hill Street Blues! Add that one to my list.
Of course, we didn’t have TV back when that show was on the air, so I’ve only heard the them music maybe three times in my life. But I know I liked it.

Barney Miller
Cagney & Lacey
NYPD Blue
OK I like cop shows.
The New Avengers
Space: 1999
Roobarb & Custard
The Muppet Show
Match Of The Day
Grandstand
Sanford and Son
I actually think the opening intro to Star Trek: Voyager sounds amazing. (yes, I did just come from that other thread.)
My other choices would be:
Hill Stree Blues
The Simpsons has, by far, the best music within the show. And the theme song ain’ tbad, either.
I agree the music from Angel is great, in fact I was going to say so, if no one else had. One thing to note though is that Another show about a vampire doing good in a large city, Forever Knight, had great theme music too. Cellos included.
Now, is that coincidence?
It’s time to start the music, it’s time to light the lights!
It’s time to meet the Muppets on the Muppet Show Tonight …
(not putting the whole lyrics in so that the mods won’t have to edit it … just clips …see? I’m a good girl.)
Why do we always come here? I guess we’ll never know.
It’s like a kind of torture, to have to watch the show!
It was weird to realize that my 12 y.o brother in law, whom I live with, has never seen this show or heard the song. Damn did I feel old.
Does anybody remember the Vietnam drama Tour of Duty? The main reason I watched that show was because it used the Rolling Stones’ “Paint It Black” as its theme song.
I thought Northern Exposure had a pleasantly engaging theme.
The Kids in the Hall
“Believe It Or Not,” from The Greatest American Hero.
(Watch most everyone else go, "From what?)
The X-Files. Imaginative, atmospheric score.
Personally, I liked Laura Palmer’s theme (the music they played during the end credits) even better.
Also (just off the top of my head, I’m sure there are more I’d mention):
Dallas
Get Smart
Alfred Hitchcock Presents
I, Claudius (if you count miniseries)
Jack Of All Trades
Believe it or not
I’m walking on air
Never thought I could feel so free
Flying away
on a wing and a prayer…
We may not have had a tv, but I still managed to watch plenty of it at other peoples’ houses!
All of the ones that come to my mind that haven’t already been mentioned are cartoons (And mostly have SONGS):
Gundam Wing
Robotech
Speed Racer (The original. Go Speed Racer Goooooooooo!)
Powerpuff Girls
Batman: The Animated Series
Batman Beyond
Static Shock (Bugged me at first, but grew on my quickly)
Transformers: Beast Machines
The Sopranos
On the radio it’s too long but over the credits it’s perfect.
Sopranos also had the best choices in music played throughout the show. The other one that was great for the was Homicide.
And I’ll second Kids in the Hall (Shadowy Men From A Shadowy Planet!) and Red Dwarf.
more votes for Law&Order and King of the Hill
Off the top of my head…
The Mary Tyler Moore Show
St. Elsewhere (altho i never watched the show, i loved the music)
The Sopranos
Believe it or not
George isn’t at home
Please leave your message at the beep
I must be out
Or I’d pick up the phone
Where can I be?
Believe it or not, I’m not home
Music from the short lived show…The Heights
