A number of sources now claim that we don’t need to invade Iraq because the UN inspectors are successfully containing their development of WMDs. Of course, this is just wishful thinking. The inspections aren’t designed to contain Iraq. Those making the claim have offered no evidence that Iraq is being contained.
However, maybe the right sort of inspections could contain Iraq. Then, they would be a viable alternative to war. The question for debate is:
What type of inspections could successfully contain Iraq?
