A very good year for apples and wine in the UK, apparently
The murder rate in the United States dropped steeply this year.

Actually, crime in general went down too.

The Cenobites.
Beyonce became a billionaire, so it was a good year for her.

Happy new year folks.
I think I’ve got something in the spirit of the OP:
2025 was a good year for Linux adoption.
The activity in this thread is an indication. Another is many influential streamers endorsing Linux for gaming (here’s PewDiePie). Linux now makes 3.2 % of all players on Steam (up from 1 % in 2021).
Among general home users in the US, Linux has reached 5 % adoption in the summer (link).
Still some way to go, but I find this encouraging.
My houseplants did great in 2025. Orchids are blooming like gangbusters (not sure why, guess they like their window).
Other than that…I got nothing. It wasn’t a good year for me.
I came here to say this. The S&P 500 grew by about 18% when you factor in dividends.
Also I feel like 2025 was a good year for GLP-1 meds, in the sense that they became a lot more affordable to people.
It was a good year for billionaires and fascists.
… And some assholes…
Also a good year for everybody who doesn’t like Elon Musk… as he’s definitely circling the drain.
False:
Secure in his position as the world’s richest man, Elon Musk added $194 billion to his net worth in 2025. His total net worth increased to almost $630 billion.
Beginning the year as Trump’s right-hand man, their relationship rapidly deteriorated, forcing Musk out of the White House in May. Despite federal feuds and consumer protests, Musk continued to gain financially. According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk’s net worth went up by roughly 45% in 2025. His total net worth is more than double that of the next richest person on the list, Google co-founder Larry Page.
see, he doesnt have that 630 billions in real money - those are just numbers on some balance sheets. If he tries to only convert 20% of those 630 billions into real money, his whole house-of-cards will collapse (have you heard, Elon started selling his Tesla stocks!!!).
And the short-to-middle outlook for Tesla (which represents a whole lot of that numbers) are are extremely shitty.
- Shitty as double-digit-negative growth in a market that grows at double digits all around the planet
- Shitty as the only vehicle you launched in the past 5 years (in an extremely dynamic EV market) bombed in spectacular form - and buying it makes you the butt-of-a-joke.
- Shitty as he destroyed the brand-goodwill of Tesla for 50% of america and 95% outside of america. The only 50% of americans that are not embarrased by him, are those that do NOT buy EVs
- Shitty as you have NO pipeline whatsoever of a new car for the next 2 years.
while the current “photo” might look good, every month in the future will be worse than the month before for him. …
Yeah, but he does not need to convert those 630 billions to “real money” to get all manner of benefits, preferential treatment, and effectively influence individuals/institutions.events.
It’s been too good a year for potatoes in Germany
