What was the first concert you attended?

The Nice/the Byrds/Sons of Champlin at the Fillmore East in ‘69. I was all of 11 years old - and completely amazed watching Keith Emerson tap dance on his Hammond, then stab daggers into it. I thought, “Cool! Are all concerts like this?” My next one was the Ides of March (“Vehicle”) / Alive & Kickin’ (“Tighter & Tighter”) - bit of a comedown, that one!

I don’t remember my first; it was either Styx, Ringo Starr, or Hall & Oates.

Frank Zappa, Halloween, in Newark, NJ, 1971. He barely spoke the whole concert, just great guitar work.

If I remember correctly it was a triple bill with Uriah Heep headlining. I think the opening act was Suzi Quatro and the second band was Elvin Bishop.

However, there was a lot between then and now, so I can’t swear. Obviously it was the early '70s. In Houston.

Hall and Oates yeah…

I’m actually a little surprised… My aunt Maureen wanted to take me to my first concert and I guess at the time that was the local (Jones Beach) concert to take me to as a teenager. Later as a gay collegiate I took her to an Indigo Girl concert

But she and my father’s mother also came to Pittsfield MA to take me to my first 21st birthday bar drink. At which I had a margarita because I didn’t know any better. I thought hey lime easy but my aunt was like oh no first drink is tequila! :smack:

Got took to: Conway Twitty back in the mid 70’s when I was just a nugget.

Went to: Judas Priest in 1986. Dad described it as severe acoustic trauma.

Most seen: Blue Öyster Cult

Dooooooood! I was there! 19 years old. I miss the Spectrum but love the LA venues out here.

My first show was… The Jackson Five. In Chicago at some circular round stage theater. All parents and kids. It was fantastic! I was four years old then.

Next was Bee Gees, Paul Anka, then Kiss (Dynasty tour also at Spectrum, 9 yeas old),
then many, many others from 9 Rush tours, to 5 Metallica, to Bowie, Floyd…

One thing to point out-- I have never ever ever ever ever been a Styx fan. At. All. Still, somehow I managed to draw Tommy Shaw as the opening act for FIVE OR SIX shows during the '80s- '90s. Even though I tried to skip him, I always arrived in time for a Tommy Shaw encore to hear “Oh, mama / I’m in fear for my life…”

:: SHUDDERS ::

Flanders and Swann, “At the Drop of a Hat”, at O’keefe Center in Toronto, 1962.

First (non-voluntary): “Les Miserables” in high school as part of honors program, Paramount Theater, Seattle
First (voluntary): Jenny Lewis and the Watson Twins opening for Death Cab for Cutie, Key Arena, 2006. The Cab was pretty much a snooze but Lewis was so fantastic I waited around after the concert to meet her. If you count her old band Rilo Kiley, I’ve seen her seven times.

Sounds like a weird combo. What was the audience reaction?

Was that the tour the Clash opened for them?
