What was the first movie you ever saw?

Showing my age here… the first movie I remember seeing in a theater was “That Darn Cat,” which my grandmother took me to see at Radio City Music Hall back in 1965!

The earliest movie I actually remember going to see was the King Kong remake in 1976 (I was three), but my parents had been taking me to the movies for years before that (I was a very well-behaved baby).

The Jungle Book. I was 4 and my older brother took me.

Bonnie & Clyde, IIRC…I still enjoy watching it when it comes on TV.

Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. My uncle took me. It’s still one of my favorites.

Mine is The Empire Strikes Back at the ripe old age of 3. My parents were afraid I’d be all fidgity and run up and down the aisles of the theater, but they said I literally sat at the edge of my seat riveted until it was over.

The first movie I remember seeing was Star Wars. My father rented a movie projector when I was about 3 and we got to watch it in our living room.

The first movie I saw in any type of theatre was Winnie The Pooh at a drive in when I was about 4. I’m pretty sure it was a double feature but I don’t remember what the second one was.

The first movie I saw in an actual movie theatre was E.T. whenever it came out - 1983 sound about right? I guess I would have been 5 or 6 depending on the month of it’s release.

I remember seeing Disney’s Robin Hood when it first came out. I loved it so much I got the sticker book.

The original Snow White in about 1962… I was 4 years old and my parents dropped my older sister and myself off at the theater and left. Given that this was extremely unorthodox behaviour for them I later wondered as an adult what the hell they were doing while we were in the movie…

We went to the drive-in every so often when I was a kid so I forget which was first…either Disney’s The Rescuers or The Jungle Book.

First movie in a theater was an odd experience. Mom said we were going to see a movie and I was perplexed as to how we could go see a movie #1) in the middle of the day and #2) inside a building! You’ll laugh when you find out what it was:

In Search of Noah’s Ark! http://us.imdb.com/Title?0076182

IMDB says 1977, so I guess I was 6 years old. I really remember little to nothing about it!

The first movie I remember seeing was *Yours, Mine andOurs[\i] A Henry Fonda/Luclle Ball comedy based on the true story of a widow with 10 kids marrying a widower with 8 (they have more together). That came out in 1968, so I’d’ve been 7. I’m sure there were others - my family liked to pile all us kids into the stationwagon and go to the drive-in.

StG

Mine was either Star Wars, one of those ridiculous Herbie movies, or one of those Pink Panther movies.

I guess I’d go with Star Wars…at a drive-in to boot.

Rodan! The Flying Monster (1957), one of the great cheesy Japanese monster flicks. I must have been about six.

The Jungle Book.
And i remember it.

The Disney version of The Little Mermaid, i cant remember what age I was, I dont remember much of the movie, but thats probably because i spent most of it going in and out to the toilet, purely because i could! lol

This thread is weird  The first movie I was ever taken* to was Star Wars: a new hope. I was all of six weeks old. I wonder if the noise made an impression on my infant mind, and is a buried memory is responsible for my dislike of the series.

The first movies I remember seeing (it was at the drive-in so there were two) were Bambi and ** The Blue Lagoon**. My guess is that everyone hoped the cartoon would tire out the tots, but not so in my case; I thought the Blue Lagoon was wicked cool because of the stranded on an island thing. I must have been three since TBL was released in 1980.

*The Sound of Music * when I was about four or five years old. I still think it’s a pretty cool movie. :stuck_out_tongue:

The first movie I remember was Return of the Jedi…I was 5.

I thought the Ewoks were cute. And Jabba scared the crap out of me.

I don’t remember watching the previous two movies, and yet I had all the toys. Weird.

The first movie I remember seeing was “Time Bandits.” Confused the heck out of me, as I recall, and I found the ending scene, where the parents turn into insects, extremely disturbing.

The first one I can remember is either the re-release of Lady and the Tramp in the mid-80s or when my parents and some fo their friends went to see the Chuck Berry documentary Hail! Hail! Rock 'n’Roll in 1987.
