Bush v. Clinton, 1992. I was a college junior.
She says FDR vs. Thomas Dewey, 1944. “I voted Democrat just to annoy my parents.”
Reagan/Mondale 1984
I was one of 3 people who voted for Walter Mondale in Virginia.
1976; I voted for Carter.
They lowered the voting age to 18 in 1972, the year I turned 18 – but I didn’t turn 18 until December of that year, so it didn’t do me any good.
1984: Reagan v. Mondale. I knew it was a hopeless cause, but voted for Mondale anyway.
Kerry/Bush 2004
I was eligible in 2000 but wasn’t with it enough to request an absentee ballot on time.
Bush v Clinton v Perot
I turned 18 election day and was so excited I was the 1st person to vote at my district.
I related in another thread about an NPR story I heard this a.m. about the 103 year old woman who has voted in every election in which woman have been able to participate.
She voted for Harding in 1920, and planned to go to the polls again today.
Good for her.
Ditto that. I can’t believe I was that cynical at 18.
1988, having been about 9 months too young in 1984. Strangely, I was registered Republican. For a while I jumped parties so that I could vote for my preferred candidate in the primaries, but at present I’m unaffiliated.
I voted for the first time in 2000, and I voted for Nader. And he didn’t win.
Me too!
Clinton vs. Dole, 1996
I was 7 months too young in 1992.
2000: Bush vs. Gore.
I was about 26 days too young for the previous one.
Bush vs. Gore, 2000.
My, wasn’t that fun?
This is my first, and I voted by absentee ballot last week.
I was 6 days too young to vote in the 200 election. Six f’in days! Yeesh!
1992, Clinton v Bush, absentee TN ballot completed while at college in Maine.
1996: Clinton vs. Dole.
I was a high school senior and voted for Dole. Funny how in the three elections I’ve voted in, I’ve voted for candidates from three different parties.
- Voted for Nader. I really thought he had a shot there for awhile.
- Voted for Kerry.
I was eighteen in 2000 and intended to vote for Gore but was out with my best friend celebrating his birthday and by the time I got to my polling place, it was 7:00ish and the lines out of the building were so long that I decided to just go home.
Tennessee then went to Bush and I still hate myself for it.
