What was it, anyway? Is it still up? Can I go there?
Well, since the World Wide Web was invented by Tim Berners-Lee while working at CERN, the first website was probably his home page. There’s no mention of it anywhere on the CERN website, at least that I can find, but there’s a picture of Berners-Lee in front of a monitor displaying what appears to be an early, if not the first, web page. That particular machine is probably long gone by now.

I especially like this quote from the CERN website referenced above:
“In 1997, with more than 650,000 servers and 1,000 new ones appearing every day, the Web is set to become as familiar as the telephone”
Um, yeah. I think it succeeded. Time to update the web page, I think.
