What was the most powerful starship ever to appear in any of the Star Trek series?

Coooool site!

I disagree. The Enterprise never actually fought V’ger or the Whale Probe. Indeed, Kirk was very careful not to so much as do a sensor scan of V’ger because it could be perceived as hostile.

The Whale Probe left on it’s own after a short chat with the whales.

The Enterprise was never in the Delta Quadrant. It has fought the Borg but AFAIK no other species from that Quadrant.

The Enterprise did not battle Tin Man. Though Tin Man did unintentionally damage it. TM also left peacefully.

The Enterprise has never battled the Defiant.

The NCC1701-D did not fight the 3 nacelled Enterprise of the future.

Additionally, I think the skill of the captain and crew is not relevant to this thread. Armed with photon torpedoes, the Pakleds ship was dangerous. The Pakleds themselves were not.

I thought this thread was about which ship on its own merits sans crew is the most powerful.

DocCathode beat me to the punch. We’re not talking about what ship has managed to survive the biggest enemies 'cause the Enterprises, the Defiants, and Voyager obviously aren’t going to get their asses kicked with them being an integral part of the Trek shows and all.

I still say the Whale Probe/Ship from ST:IV is the most powerful. If not it, V’ger. Now if we can just ignore the uberships like that and focus on more than just villains of the week, that brings us back to the Borg and Species 8472.

I’d like to see V’ger & the Whale Probe go at it. Of course the same race could have built both. first they fixed up Voyager & sent it home, then they made the Whale Probe to come check on the whales. Maybe?

What’s Tin Man?

From startrek.com

In the episode, Gomtuu (Tin Man) managed to destroy a Romulan Warbird in one volley and push the Enterprise and another Warbird out of the reach of an impending nova.

Sad but true. The Year of Hell episode(s?) is one of the few I remember as being adrenaline-pounding, glued-to-the-TV exciting. After that, though, waaaaay too many resets. The whole thing with Kes, heck- even the season finale! Couldn’t the writers come up with ANYTHING else? ::sigh:: Voyager had such potential, too.

[/end rant]

What?? Why did I never see this episode?

And after checking out this website:http://www.merzo.net/index.html I have to take back what I said about the Voth City Ship. I never realized just how big Borg Cubes are. How did those dinky little 8472 Bioships manage to take them out so easily?

After looking at V’ger & Whale Probe compared to the size of the moon, I’m surprised too they posed such a threat to the Earth. They don’t look that big. In the movie, I imagined V’ger to be at least the size of the Earth. Or is the picture at the website after it shed off it’s outer layers?

Why not? They are smart. They can make ships go.

Yeah! The Pakleds weren’t stupid. The Universal Translator just made their incredibly efficient speech sound simplistic. They are actually higher evolved that the Organians.

IIRC, the movie established the size of the energy cloud at 82 au’s in diameter, or 7,622,376,174 miles (0.0129665 light-years), but I don’t recall any hint of size of V’Ger itself. I also remember them saying the cloud dissipated as it approached the Solar System, as a cloud that big would engulf most of the system.

Ah-ha. Thought so.
