… by Joyce Carol Oates?
(If this is considered improper for this forum, please just ignore the question. Please use spoilers, of course…)
I assume it was intended to be less than obvious at the end of the story, or maybe I’m being dense, but are we left simply to speculate on the solution to the Glen Mawr murders? I will put my speculation and questions below:
Was Georgina the perpetrator of all the murders (including the animals), or just some of them? I’m guessing all, but I have some doubts. Was her motivation that her father was having sex with her and it drove her mad? Was she wearing the weird clothes to hide being pregnant and were some of her “illnesses” due to giving birth? Seems like a lot of pregnancies to keep secret. If she committed the murders in the honeymoon room, how did she get in? Was it through a ceiling panel? And how did she commit them? By introducing some sort of predators? What caused everyone who survived to freak out?
Anyone?
