What was the (US) Weather like on 31 Dec, 1999?

You do understand that the U.S. is so big it has every weather model from artic to sub tropical, right?

I remember almost getting stranded in Chicago by a snowstorm on 1/1/00.

Yes, I am an American. (I have to admit, I remember nothing at all from 31 December, 1999.)

San Francisco was quite pleasant that evening. I worked the Y2K rollover shift (8pm 31st-8am 1st) that night for a major public utility. I was 17 floors up about two blocks from the waterfront. Beautiful view of the fireworks.

Like many, I saved the newspaper from that date. It is the* Fort Lauderdale Sun Sentinel*. High of 79 low of 63. Page 8B has the complete weather forecast.

That day, the White House said that they expected no Y2K issues, but others were expecting to see supply-chain problems throughout January. National Guard soldiers were on duty (in small numbers) in Washington and New York.

Dick Clark was looking good (comparatively).

Ah, yes – Dec. 31, 1999. Are you still considering retirement in Mexico, Paul in Saudi? I was there and remember specifically that Y2K would be no problem – they’re used to no electricity, no running water, no welfare checks to not be printed by computers, and in all likelihood they weren’t on any targeting computers for nuclear missiles that may have gone astray that day. The weather was about 70 and sunny.
