What was this 1970's arcade racing game?

I remember seeing this game in the Aladins Castle in the early-mid 70’s. I never played it because I didn’t know what it was about. My memory may be a tad foggy about it.

It had a plastic model race car under domed plastic on a partial drag strip with drag lights. I don’t believe the car moved at all, which is why I thought the game was weird. There was a gear shifter. I always guessed the object had something to do with shifting or something. But like I said, I never played it.

When you say the car doesn’t move, do you mean in the gameplay rather than the cabinet being motorized? The car is fixed in position on the screen (or maybe it’s just horizontal movement) and the track and other cars scroll by?

Sounds like Allied’s “Super Shifter” game. it had a clutch, shifter, and tach. You had to keep the car straight. I think it gave the sensation of speed using strobe lights.

Supershifter?

Speed Shift maybe?
