Some time ago at a bookstore I was thumbing through an interesting graphic novel which was from the perspective of some soldiers serving in the first Gulf War. It was done in a sort of minimalist style, but was pretty deep and had a complicated story and dialogue. I remember two details of it: the characters drive an HEMTT (one of those long 8x8 trucks) and at one point they have to change a tire (I remember it because you’d never imagine one of those things getting a flat tire.) I also remember there was a character called “Satterwhite”. He was not a major character, I just remember his name because it was distinctive sounding. I think he commits suicide, maybe. That’s what I remember about this interesting graphic novel. Does this ring a bell for anyone?
