What was this movie called?

There was a movie that came out several years ago, I really wanted to see it, but never got to. I have no idea exactly how long ago it was.

It was about a Mother, very poor, who got into making money by running drugs across the US-Canada border. I think she may have been Native American, but perhaps not. And I think there was something about doing it in the Winter time when the river on/near her property would freeze, allowing her to avoid customs and border officers entirely.

I’ve watched for it to show up again on HBO or Amazon or Netflix, but nothing ever quite rang the bell.

Any ideas?

That was my thought too. Grim movie. Melissa Leo was great, as always.

No wonder the frozen river was the only salient clue I could recall. :smack: :o

Ironically, I recognized it even without the name. It was filmed near the area I grew up.

My first thought was “whatever it was called, I’m sure it’s still called that.”
