What was your favorite old arcade game?

Personally, for me it’s just a matter of not having the time or desire to learn which one of the 14 buttons on my Playstation I need to press in order for the character to do what I want them to do. The older games were much more simple, and therefore easier to jump right in and play.

You are the first person I’ve ever met that knew about 8-Ball Deluxe. Used to sneak quarters off my dad’s dresser, sneak across the 4-lane to the Park Vue Dairy Bar and play that all afternoon. Kill 2 or 3 hours on a couple of quarters.

Oh, absolutely. Loving every minute of it. You make it sound like a bad thing!

I have to say, nowadays when I enter an arcade I’m almost always really disappointed. Most of the games are variations on Mortal Kombat - don’t seem to be any good space shooters or puzzle games anymore.

And these modern pinball games got way too high-tech for me. I loved the feel of the older games, with less bells and whistles and more emphasis on ball control and precision.

Sigh.

S’cuze me I’m gonna go put on my goggles now…

I remember this game–I used to love to pick the option where the photon torpedos would bounce off the edges of the screen and try to hit my opponent with a flurry of “bank shots”. A technique I developed, IIRC, with that old gunfighter game “Boot Hill”.

I loved Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. I’ve only ever seen two of these things, and I own one of them! sadly right now the monitor doesn’t work and I don’t have time to fix it. as for the more modern games I love, and own, an original Mortal Kombat game. I was never very good at most games though. I did like Road blasers though. and I think I can run it through my Indy game.

Video Game Characters Go On Strike

Lots of great games. Space Invaders II earned me a free lunch every month at a local pizza joint. My personal favorites were:

QIX
Crystal Castles
Tron
Robitron

There was on that you flew a ship through a maze, the view was from the side at a compound angle looking down. The name started with a X or Z. Anyone remember it?
