Turn books in. Take finals. Go home. In grade 12, come back the next evening for commencement ceremonies. We didn’t do parties. The school where I teach now handles things in a very similar way.
Are you saying that you didn’t graduate until you were 30?
Must not have been very memorable. I vaguely remember my graduation ceremony, a little bit of the graduation rehearsal, but next to nothing of the last day of school proper. I do remember that the finals schedule meant that everyone kind of trickled out on their own as they completed their last test and that teachers were strongly discouraging “hanging out” inside or outside school grounds. So, yeah, it was sort of odd, not at all like 99% of the rest of high school days.
Pretty sure Junior High had a normal schedule up through the last day and that the last day was mostly watching videos and stuff. Yeeha.
