What were some of the games we used to play on the SDMB?

A couple of fun ones I remember from long ago:

What Would Arnold Schwartzeneggar Say? The idea was to give Arnold some object, and the next poster would come up with Arnold’s reply to the gift. An example from the thread would be Poster A saying, “Here’s a paper clip, Arnold”; to which Poster B replies, “Get bent,” before posting another object for Arnold (in the thread, the next object was a blender).

Then there was Describe the Previous Poster as a Superhero. Here, you did just that–usually, with some play on the previous poster’s username. (I apparently could turn any weapon into a spoon, and had an army of Super Utensil Fighters I could call upon.) Super-weaknesses, arch-enemies, and such were described also.

It was done by me…I might hold another.

Well, there was “In The Valley of the Green Glass Doors”…kind of a one-shot.

In chat, we used to play the Band Name Game a lot. Basically, first person names a band, next person must name a band with the same first letter as the last letter of the previously-named band (obviously, it helps to know a lot of bands that start with S). Ultimate Band List was the impartial dictionary of what was a valid band, duos counted (but not solos, so “Prince and the Revolution” was valid, but not just “Prince”), and “The” didn’t count for Ts. Pretty fun, but it needs to be done in a time-controlled environment.

My wife and I (about 7 years back) started a game called “Band Name Synonyms”. It’s now apparently lost to the shifting sands of internet time, but the idea was to post a synonym of a band name, and you had to guess and post your own.

So “tumbling rocks” would be “Rolling Stones” - a simple example. There were some extremely funny ones - “throw small fruit”=Chuck Berry; “open forcefully, strike repeatedly”=Jimmy Buffet (get it?); “you find it in your krap”=Korn.

That was a funny freakin’ thread; I just wish I could find it.
