I wouldn’t be surprised. For such an excellent program to turn to dross…just my luck.
Baltar and Adama will probably become pals.
I have really never watched the new BSG, so you can be sure you’re getting an informed opinion here. One possibility that always intrigued me as a kid was that BSG took place in the distant past, and that the refugees actually founded human life on this planet. Don’t give me any guff about evolution and molecular homology with other life forms, yadda yadda yadda. This is sci-fi we’re talking about here. I’ve always kind of liked the idea that they settled here, their descendants split up and spread across the earth, catastrophes happened (like perhaps the various volcanic eruptions that nearly wiped out humanity during our early history) that destroyed the advanced technology from BSG. This scenario is full of holes, I know, but big deal. It would give us the origins of all those super-advanced mythical ancient civilizations that crop up in literature.
You say it’s an excellent program? From the majority of your comments I don’t know why you’d say that.

It gets downed by missiles from all five major nuclear powers.
I’m glad you’re paying attention. There will be an exam on Tuesday.
I thought that it would be great if they showed up and we were exactly where we are right now. The Galatica would make a stand in the Sol system and try and hold back the Cylons from getting to the slightly back water Earthlings. We are the last of them, kinda like the retarded little cousin, If they have to die to protect what we have, so be it.
The last scene of BSG is the Galatica just outside of the Kippler belt standing off against 9 or 10 Basestars with Adoma giving the sameish speech the president gave in ID4; “we will not survive this…”
Of curse I should point out that I manage retail store stores not write for TV shows, ad my ideas have been known to suck in the past.
“Earth” turns out to be the Cylon homeworld.
The humans are their biological entity experiment that rebelled against them, hence they were forcibly exiled to Kobol/the Colonies. There, they reversed- engineered and re-programmed the Cylons to be their own slaves, which eventually rebelled against them, driving them back to Earth, where the humans learn that they in fact are the original “rogue” created species.
Or something like that.
As the “Kippler Belt” is still undiscovered, they could try this: Kuiper belt - Wikipedia
A Kippler Belt is like a chastity belt, which prevents kids from Kipling.
