This one already jumped the shark. I suspect this one has played itself out. It’s a new week and Twitter must be abuzz with some other retweetable disgust over something. I’ve lately thought that the Twitter mob is a more interesting story than whatever they’re organized around. I’m impressed how easily some small, inconsequential thing can get to CNN by the end of the day and destroy some unknown person by the morrow, be they small-time editors or even-smaller-time self-published authors.
Does anyone want to guess where the Twitter mob might gather next? And how many of these will occur before it’s no longer considered interesting and the effect is diffused? Will social engineers figure out how to game the system, or do they just have to occur naturally, like tsunamis?
