That’s rubbish. The problem is that there aren’t a majority of parliamentarians for any specific option. Hard Brexiters, soft Brexiters, hard Remainers, second-referendumers, and a variety of other flavours - Parliament is as divided as the country.
The elections to appoint MEP’s have in effect been referendum part 2. Even now it is clear that the majority of British people, at least indigenous British people are demanding to have our independence and sovereignty restored. We NEVER voted to surrender our sovereignty to the profoundly undemocratic and corrupt EU. We voted to join a trading bloc and nothing more.
The very last thing that we need is to remain tied to the EU. Arguments that there will be a reduction in our domestic economy are specious at best. What matters is that we should address our ballance of trade and because economy is determined from a nations GDP it becomes meaningless when it is used to indicate the true health of a nations finances.
When it comes to international trade the EU are obviously important but not vital to us. Indeed markets will open to us that were in effect closed. Restoration of our Ontario of our own borders will be a huge benefit, as will restoration of our own fishing grounds. Then there is the little matter of ridding our country of illegal and unwanted immigrants who are bleeding our Welfare State dry.
There are many changes that will result in regaining our independence that can now take place albeit it will take time to rollback the virtual invasion and occupation of our country.
There may be a cost but there was a huge cost fighting to prevent invasion and takeover of our country in the middle of the last century. We must not let the sacrifices made then just be thrown away which was what being absorbed by the horrid undemocratic (and it is) corrupt EU amounted to.
The virtual second referendum which is what the MEP elections have been clearly show that such division as there is has BREXIT as being he overwhelming demand by the majority of Joe Public.
Interestingly the grass roots views in other countries are also pro-freedom from the EU. The Netherlands being the most recent, just waiting for the official announcement.
You got the results two days earlier than everyone else, did you?
(Bolding mine) Your whistle has slipped out of tune, everyone can hear it.
What the EU is now has been shaped in a very large part by Britain. There was not some sort of bait-and-switch arrangement foisted upon the UK by nefarious French and German bureaucrats.
If by “specious” you mean “supported by actual evidenceand extensive analysis by top economists”, sure. What are specious are the assertions of the Leave campaign that the negative impact will be inconsequential or mitigated by amazing new trading deals (despite the loss of a considerable amount of negotiating power and the additional competition with the rump-EU).
And how will the UK do this with the aforementioned loss of a massive amount of trading clout?
This is certainly something the Leave campaign has asserted, but unless you mean the amazing new trade deal with the Faroe Islands these mysterious markets do not appear to be that interested.
That is not a thing that is actually happening, despite what the Daily Mail says (that’s the Daily Mail whose owner will profit mightily from leaving the EU but whose readers will be screwed eight ways to Sunday by it).
But it’s funny - I have been repeatedly assured by a prominent Leave supporter on this board that this sort of argument was not actually representative of the Leave campaign.
The UK is not being invaded, occupied, overrun, absorbed or any of the other hyperbolic language you may choose to use.
exit polls. Obviously not precise but much more than just indicative.
Who is invading and occupying the UK? What effects do you think this will have?
Maybe living here and experiencing what has been taking place since before the two referendums on joining the common market aka EC gives me a slightly better perspective.?
the virtual invasion and occupation of our country? The Franco/ German coalition within the EU have become the occupying force and the invaders are EU citizens and worst of all illegal immigrants that the hated and totally unnecessary ECHR prevents us from kicking out.
What are some of the impacts of that?
Oh, the imaginary invasion, the one taking place only in the heads of people who want to drag the country back to the '50s.
I’m as British as you get, by any definition, and I cannot disagree more strongly with this dangerous nonsense.
I see no evidence of that.
Except there are no published exit polls as it’s illegal to do so for the European election as the vote is spread across several days.
Not in the eyes of Brexit voters.
This is a significant factor hereabouts.
This, however, is a gross distortion. As of 2017 there were 3.7 million EU immigrants; there were also 5.7 million non-EU immigrants. Cite. Yes, this is a doubling of the 2004 numbers but the UK’s total population is over 65 million. Immigrants are still a small minority.
Almost true, but not quite. Exit polls have taken place and the Dutch exit results are being published already. Indicative UK exit polls already are circulating and are pretty much similar. Google it a bit, you may need to use a European VPN though. I think that the UK Daily Express may be accessable without using a VPN but don’t know for certain.

I pict up on that, too.
Those are the official figures but hugely underestimate the actual numbers. For example back in 2007 the “food and used food” estimate put the real number at 80,000,000.
Food and used food?
By taking the food consumption and sewage contents, both of which are objective, the size of a population can be determined with considerable accuracy.
That was over ten years ago.
The number of foreigners now living and predating off our tax payer funded welfare state not to mention adding to our imports bill but producing virtually nothing to increase our export value are ruining life for the indigenous British population.
Estimates based on the food etc. metric indicates that up to a hundred million is possible but I would point for a smaller number but still much more than the official number.
Then there’s the so-called cultures the have brought into our land. Knife crime, wall to wall drugs, drug gangs, terrorism, grooming of our kids because the religion they follow tells them it’s ok to do so (and it does) and so much more.
