What words have you added to Firefox's dictionary?

These are mine

I added Simpsons so I could talk about the Simpsons without all those red lines. I don’t like to capitalize my days. And the Hawaiian word wahine wasn’t in the dictionary.

If you search for “Firefox Dictionary” you should be able to find how to get this. Basically for XP it’s in a hidden file names presdict.dat in your Documents & Settings folder.

So, you don’t mind capitalizing Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday?

My favorite feature of the Firefox dictionary is what it suggests if you type “buckinghamshire.”

They haven’t some up yet.

Ha-ha. That could make for some interesting school reports.

ARRRGH I can’t find it! And I really want to know because I know I’ve added in some misspelled words by mistake.

I just added ARRRGH! to my Firefox dictionary.

You probably can’t find it because it’s hidden. Make sure your search includes hidden objects.

This is about one of those so-called “spell checkers”, isn’t it? I’ve heard of them.

I changed my dictionary to be the Australian one, because the default US one is full of awful spelling errors the like of which I’ve never seen.

Except in American publications.

And across most of the internet.

I did. If there is one complaint I have about XP is its search function. I clicked on the “search hidden folders” or whatever. But I still kept coming up blank. I’m normally pretty good with Windows but I tried searching several different sub-directories and couldn’t find it. My Firefox thinks recieved and received are both correct spellings due to a dumb mistake, and I don’t know how to fix it. :smack:

Gee…how entirely geeky.

(btw, it’s persdict.dat not presdict.)

I know it’s an old thread I’m resurrecting, but I was curious if anyone ever started this thread before and I found it by searching.

I guess Firefox has changed the suggested word since 2007. Anyone remember what it was? The word it’s suggesting in its place now is Buckingham.

Words I’ve added:

micronutrients polysaccharide bioavailable glycemic Burley Maltodextrin thermogenesis maltodextrin glutamine igniter falafel ethnicities Montclair bioavailability taskbar
If you’ve added words to your Firefox dictionary and you’d like to see what they are, you can follow he directions in the link below (and skip the part about deleting a word):

ETA: I found out what word was suggested in place of buckinghamshire:

Just for the hell of it, I copy and paste Tengu’s list to see if any words have been added by the folks at Mozilla and no longer needed to be added individually. The following are now words by default:

cripes Manga Cyber Everything’s blonde manga Gaiman chewable asshole anime Cthulhu syllabary Simpsons anime undead LiveJournal Firefox’s Emoticon flirty

I need to figure out how to do this. FF doesn’t know how to spell my last name.

Edit: I need to learn to read.
