Love it! Bear in mind this is the first vv device I’ve used, so I have nothing better than a KGO to compare it to. I’ve had it for two weeks and for the first time been dripping on an atomizer. Much cleaner flavor, very strong throat hit (which is going to depend on the juice as well, of course.) I’m afraid to admit I’m somewhat baffled by all the voltage and wattage options. I do find that turning the voltage too low (below 3) noticeably diminished flavor, while turning it too high (above 4.5) makes the juice taste a bit burnt. Also it won’t work with low resistance cartos (below 1.2 ohms); gives an error message. I found this out when I tried to use the LR cartos I use on the KGO on it.
Feels very solid, buttons are responsive. It’s big and heavy! I use it at home mostly, at work the KGOs are more convenient. And you certainly can’t stealth-vape with one of these. It can be made smaller by unscrewing the end cap and using a shorter18350 battery - the link I posted shows how it comes apart. I’m using 18650 batteries and it easily lasts all day.
Place I bought it from replaced the spring that held the battery in; I guess loose battery connections are an issue because the OEM spring was flimsy. So if you decide to get one, ask the vendor about that. ECF (link posted above by Lyllyan) also has a sub-forum for the Vamo. I’m not an ECF member but I have browsed the forums there quite a bit and the Vamo sub-forum looks to be bustling and I’m sure you’ll get tons of feedback there too.
If I still love it in a few weeks, I may get another. Mine is the “black chrome” finish and I’m thinking a stainless steel one would be purty. Just not pink. Would look too much like a marital aid!
There are other methods but this one works well. Note that the soaking process is only for the first time you fill each dry carto. Once it has been used, just drip the juice onto the white filling, not down the hole in the center.
Don’t throw away the little white mouthpiece cap if you don’t have a drip tip – put in back in after filling.
As an update, I wanted to say that the relative I bought this starter kit for seems to love it and has cut way back on cigs. I am optimistic that eventually he will be able to stop for good, which is something that I know never would have happened without e-cigs. Thanks for the tip on this starter kit. I hope it helps others too.
I bought one in early November and haven’t had a regular smoke since. It does look like a crack pipe and my friends always joke about me smoking crack everywhere I go. I started on the 16mg of nicotine and now am down to 8mg. Many great flavors and the “Aloha Apple” is mine.
I’ve always had trouble kicking bad habits, but from day…er three, I would rather be vaping than smoking. I strongly recommend it.
OK, so I finally broke down and got a non-looking-like-a-cigarette-ecig. I picked up the transluscent purple Vivi Nova Mini with what appears to be a (manual) eGo battery, but bears no distinguishing marks.
I’m dead certain I overpaid, but the shop had great reviews on yelp which mention their awesome customer service, including free troubleshooting and repair, and the guy was super nice. If anything goes wrong I like knowing I can take it to the dude who sold it to me and say, “fix it, please!” Plus, of course, I didn’t pay for shipping, so that’s cool. And he threw in a free 15mL bottle of ejuice, so that was sweet.
I’m not at all certain it’s superior in terms of vaping, but it’s going to be a heck of a lot cheaper and easier to refill, that’s for sure. In less than a month (if the predicted puffs hold true), I’ll be ahead of the game vs. buying cartomizers.
Sounds awesome! Do you know if your setup came with an atomizer as a heating element, or what? My ecig is also purple, although I got the kGo (bigger battery, longer life). The eGo mini is decent, but it’s pretty small and has a correspondingly short battery life.
Also just a random tip, my eGo mini came with a faulty charger. So if you have problems charging the battery, test that out first.

Oh heck, they’re good guys, let’s give 'em a public nod. Modern Vapor, near North Ave. on Milwaukee. And when I say “overpaid”, I mean if you added up each component sold ala carte, I could probably have spent less online, but that would have been missing the expertise, convenience and camaraderie, support your local business, etc. and added in shipping and a few days of waiting (which would have meant spending another $16 for carts for my other one). It was certainly no more than I *expected *to spend, in the $60 range for battery, USB charger, this little tank thingy with three, um, other thingies (I think he called them “heads”, but don’t quote me on that; I think it’s the atomizer and two spares) and the black tip thingy you suck on.
I now have a slew of new vocabulary I need to learn, I see! I’d mastered the basics, now I’m in the Advanced class!
I know to fill it, I just pop off the black tip, unscrew the top level of things that unscrew and drip eliquid with an eyedropper right in there. No rolled wicking or little silicone o-rings or plastic tops to fling out under the couch when I try to fill it.
'Nother nice bonus: no battery “memory”. So as long as it holds a charge for me during the day, I can put it on the charger overnight and not have to run it all the way down first. At least one of my cigarette lookalike batteries included a strongly worded warning about battery memory, which was a bummer.
I’ll see tomorrow if it gets me through the day. I got it around 1 this afternoon and it’s still going strong; no idea how much of a charge it had out of the box.
