I put this in GQ because I don’t want any comments pro or con on whether Manning should get the hormone treatment in prison. Just looking for some idea how much it might cost. I was thinking it’s probably expensive but maybe not. How about additional medical attention needed for such treatments such as additional monitoring for side effects etc.?
According to this, male-to female sexual reassignment surgery can cost $7,000-$24,000. However, that seems to be the cost for just the surgery, not including the counseling, follow-up or lifetime hormone therapy.
We’re talking about Hormone therapy only not surgery, AFAIK Manning has not requested surgery.
