What would have been Col. Jessup's fate after "A Few Good Men"?

I didnt post this in Cafe Soc or IMHO looking for more factual options.

The memorable Jack Nicholson character is led away as a witness in the murder trial of his subordinates after all but admitting he ordered them to commit an illegal act that inadvertently caused the death of another Marine (Santiago), and its clear Jessup prevented Santiago from leaving the base (this part of the movie I’m not clear) either before he was killed or after . . . either way there was a bit of a cover up.

Would have Jessup faced a full court martial under these circumstances and if so what would have been his best case and worst case sentencing scenario? Knowing how the military court operated in the 90s, and this is where it gets into IMHO, how would he have fared?

I’m guessing a plea bargain to dishonorable discharge, and Jessup ends up working for Blackwater or Haliburton! :smiley:
