Laser tag equipment, Nerf guns or paintball guns.
“Phased plasma rifle in the 40-watt range.”
“Hey, just what you see, pal!”
With that name I’d expect video games. Possibly due to some combination of similarity to GameStop and that I play video games, not D&D type games.
You could take up tabletop wargaming…
Medical school.
all the classics majors i knew are now latin teachers. most - in their hometown. one, for her old HS.
and i think the “armory” gives away the clue for it to be warhammer-esque games. the comic book shop in the Simpsons is called the Android’s Dungeon, so i suppose comic books would also be a valid assumption. either way, it wouldn’t be video games…
you’s a fool.
Yeah, Games Plus, I’d expect to sell video games. Sounds too close to GameStop. It’s the “Armory” in the OP’s example that makes me intuitively grok tabletop roleplay games. It’s a great name, actually, given how many in this thread understood what it was with no problem.
And I’m not a player, never have been, but my son in into MtG, and some of the guys I hung out with in college were into D&D, so I’m familiar with the genre.
yeah I suppose I should have known, but I don’t know anything about warhammer type games at all
Ditto.
well, not me being a fool, I would have expected pen and paper gaming, and perhaps trading card gamers. Books, modules, dice, paintable miniatures.
You, sort of foolish =)
Did this really happen, or are you just trying for attention again?
This is what I’d be thinking, along with books for said games and a close second is what the store actually was.
I thought it would sell some role playing stuff and have people playing the games like you described.
this did really happen. this is how exciting my life is.
Maybe you should get a blog.
no one would read my blog
wait for it…
Definite: Dice, books, miniatures, cards, and other items for tabletop gaming, be it RPGs, miniature wargames, or ccgs.
Likely: Toys and books based on games, in addition to the above.
Also likely, but unrelated to the other likely: Comic books, anime and manga, and general toys, in addition to the tabletop gaming stuff.
Also likely, but requiring only the Definite: Space to play the games.
Possible: Non game-related, sci-fi/fantasy non-graphic novels, and non-anime movies in addition to the above.
Possible, but somewhat surprising: Video games and associated supplies, in addition to the above. Vintage, more likely than new.
Little to no chance: Video games and associated supplies, without the tabletop stuff.
So, while I wouldn’t call you a fool (despite choosing that option in the poll), since I wouldn’t be overly surprised if they carried video games, AS WELL as tabletop stuff, you totally made the wrong call on what was likely in there.
Is LARPing popular enough for an entire store devoted to it to exist?
“Armory” is a dead giveaway. It’s got the medieval/military vibe that infuses so much old school gaming.
“Gamer’s Armory”?
I’d have guessed tabletop games… more specifically the miniatures-based games, like those of Games Workshop, the Battletech games, etc…
Might also have some medieval-style weapons laying around (to cater to the SCA crowd).
