I have a list of twenty meals I rotate.
One recent favourite is bacon pancakes (unsweetened) with a bit of maple syrup, a salad or vegetable soup.
Tabouleh is on that list.
Others on the list:
- a lentildish with selery and carrots and currants;
- the plain old classic boiled potatoes/cooked veggies/baked protein thingy;
- home made pizza
- pasta ratatouille
Between the summer heat and being under stress (which makes me practically anorectic) - I’ve hardly cooked anything all summer. But as it is only in the 60’s today and raining because of Irene, and a dull Sunday to boot - spaghetti and meatballs it is, yay! Smells really really really good, I hope I can eat more than a bite or two.
We’ve been making a concerted effort to cook ‘real food’ lately. Some recent meals include
Veggie stir-fry
Fajitas
Hamburgers with homemade oven-fries
Bacon-wrapped pork chops
Barbecued’ pork loin (cooked in the Crock Pot with BBQ sauce)
We’re having a new patio put in in he next few weeks, which we’ll christen with a new barbecue, and try to get in some grilling before the weather turns wet and cold.
Massaged Kale Salad: original recipe
My modifications:
-
Massage with 1/2 lime & 1 teaspoon sesame oil
-
Dressing:
1/2 lime
Rooster sauce
honey
1 teaspoon sesame oil
- Subbed out pepitas for peanuts
It’s so tasty. I never thought I’d like kale. I’m also planning some kale chips.
I love the farmer’s market. Fresh grown okra—in Nebraska, no less! So, for lunch today, baked pork chops and fresh okra stewed with garden tomatoes! It was delish!
