Whatcha readin' November edition

I just finished the Planet Hulk hardcover. It was great, despite the gut-wrenchingly depressing final book. Before that, I read Peter Straub’s Ghost Story. Really good, probably in my top three all time favorites. I have no idea what to read next. I have a lot of unread books, but I have a hard time getting motivated to start a new one.

Done with River of Time. Much better than reviews would suggest.

Well it was a VERY short read & I finished it last night. I found it dated but enjoyable for what it was. This is the second Ian Fleming book I’ve read having grown up with Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on my bookshelf and I have to say that his writing had improved markedly from Casino Royale (1954) to CCBB (1964). I’ll continue with the series.

I’ll put behind a spoiler just in case:
I think Sophie will be fine depending on where they ended up AND on Sugar’s patience holding out. If the author pumped out a sequel on them, I’d read it. I also have to wonder if that was truly Agnes’ body that was pulled out of the river. Maybe I skipped a part where it was confirmed however I felt it wasn’t a firm identification.

Yes, the ending was sudden and made me wonder if the author just got tired of the characters and wanted to end things but otherwise a great read and I’m sure I’ll reread it again in the future.
I am about half way through the Heart Shaped Box. My daughter and BF have already read it and they keep asking me if I am finished yet so we can discuss it.

I think we stayed steady enough to warrant keeping a new thread each month, so here is December’s.
