These were the first products, in my memory, which had their names changed because of PC-ness. [li]“Injun Orange” became “Jolly Olly Orange” []“Chinese Cherry” became “Choo-Choo Cherry” []“Loudmouth Lime” disapeared for some reason.[/li] This must have been in the '60’s sometime; it seems like an eternity ago.
Fizzies still exist. They have a website which I don’t know how to post. They were taken off the market because they had cyclamates, but are back with nutrasweet. Making them with sugar would make them HUGE!
The Hostess donuts with raspberry filling are still available, I ate some yesterday. They come with or without powdered sugar.
I still have a package of jello 1-2-3, if anyone is interested.
King Vitaman is still available at my local Schnucks here in Missouri…I have a friend who swears by the stuff, to the exclusion of all other breakfast cereals.
Now, what I want to know is, what the devil happened to Bubble Tape?
I think that they had to remove something relatively unimportant (maybe part of a heel…?), but she’s doing well and doesn’t remember the event.
Of course, I don’t remember where I read this… citeless as usual.
The Jello 1-2-3 is cherry. Cost me .54.
My kid buys Bubbletape all the time. Grape or cherry.
This site says she has “scars she bears on her forehead, her thigh and right foot.” It doesn’t mention how she got them though.

This next site says the accident “claimed her right little toe and left some minor scars from skin grafts.”

The only question here is “What happened to (insert product here)?”, to which the answer in each case is either “They stopped making it” or “they’re still making it”. Since the rest of this thread is pretty much nothing but reminiscing and annecdotes, i’m moving it over to MPSIMS.
That’ll teach me to try and diversify my posting forums. I’m back did anyone miss me?..?..? Oh, well! Sigh!

What ever happened to Mattels “Strange Change” machine?
It was my favorite toy circa 1972.You put a plastic cube the size of a starburst candy onto a modified heat plate and it slowly grew into a T rex or an octopus or a skeleton. You could play with the figures, reheat them and squish them back into the cube shape with a viselike device.Way cool to a 7 year old.
Oh, I loved that Strange Change thingie. We also had the Thingmaker with the little hot plate molds, but we were always running out of the bottles of plastic goo and having to beg the parents to buy more.
Does anyone remember those art kits for girls that had names like Leather Art, Copper Art and Macrame Art? They were excellent kits, with lots of good-quality supplies, and there were dozens of different ones. They came in red boxes, IIRC.
That is indeed what I was talking about. The “sprinkles” on top are called muisjes (“little mice”). “Rusk with Little Mice”, or Beschuit met Muisjes, is the traditional thing to eat when a baby is born into the family. White & Pink for a girl, and White & Blue for a boy.
But beschuit itself can be eaten the year 'round. It’s a breakfast thing. Also, it helps when one has the, ahem, runs
Meccano! But of course. Why in the name of Zeuss’ butthole[sup]1[/sup] do you call those erector sets, though?? Confusing stuff
[sup]1[/sup] = I think Lexicon deserves full credit for this one. I love that one. However, I am too lazy to look it up.
Well, let me put it this way about <ahem> Erector Sets, Coldie. Playing around with nuts, screws and rigid members is unsurpassed for teaching a young boy (or girl, hi Lynn!) the ins and outs (as it were) of erecting more significant things to come.
<ahem, ahem, hack, cough, hic, hic, hack>

**8 pack deposit bottles for soda. Remember lugging them things to & from the store? Why, in this day of recycling, aren’t they using them anymore? I don’t care what anyone says, soda (and beer;) ) taste better in glass bottles!

I was really disappointed when they stopped making Pepsi in glass bottles. You’re right, pkbites, it does taste better. Even RC Cola tasted good in glass bottles.
I miss Fisher Price Little People. Those little 2" tall tube-shaped people - they had a house, a jet, and a bunch of other toys, all with little round holes in them so the little people would fit. Then some kids choked on the little people so they made them fatter and wider, and they’re not so little anymore. I wish my mom had saved mine.
