What's a 4 X 4?

In case this wasn’t already abundantly clear, if it’s in a truck with a half-ton cargo capacity and an open bed, it’s probably 4x4.
If it’s on an Audi, Subaru, or something that is built on a chassis that will under no circumstances have a half-ton cargo capacity or an open bed, it’s probably called AWD.

It should also be noted that In N Out will give you an N x M, for any values of M and N I’ve ever heard of. There are stories of people ordering, say, 50x50s, but the biggest I’ve ever personally seen was an 8x8. It had to be eaten with a fork.

Since the nearest In N Out is 6 states away, I’ve never had the pleasure. What makes it so special?
